Announce coming events

 58th ANNUAL FLOWER & VEGETABLE SHOW -  Sunday 6th September 2026

Sutton Ex-Servicemen’s Club will hold its 58thAnnual Flower & Vegetable Show on Sunday 6th September 2026.

The Show will again take place with the kind permission of The Barber Family, in a large marquee on Spooners Flats, Hollin Lane, Sutton.

I hope the weather is kind to you in the time leading up to the Show and your growing season has started well considering the Spring was rather cool although we did enjoy a “mini heatwave” at the end of May.

I’m sure the majority of you will now be familiar with the Schedule.

It is more or less the same as in previous years with just a few minor changes this year, including our long standing “Any Other Vegetable” class now also being open to any other fruit as well … pears seem to be a local favourite for example.

After a greatly successful first few years we will again be staging the ever popular and keenly contested “World Lemon Cheese Championship”.

Special thanks must again go to our friends at Anthony Collins Solicitors for their wonderful, continued support and also to new sponsors Cheshire Grounds - Please have a chat with them in the marquee on Show Day.

The scarecrow competition will again take place, please spread the word and try to have a go. Entries in this part of the show have reduced over the last few and so it would be great to see more entries this year.

You’ll find full details regarding the scarecrow competition later in the schedule.

Please don’t forget the prize money will be paid out on the day of the Show, it certainly helps wrap the show formalities up quickly and so if you are fortunate enough to win a prize, please see the show officials on the day.

The Show really is a friendly village event and is open to everyone so please try and take part. Let’s hope the sun shines, the village turns out and we have a wonderful day.

The marquee will be open to the public no later than 2:30pm - it takes us until then to finish the judging and write out the certificates for all 137 classes.
